So I tried a photo study in SAI this time, instead of Photoshop. I\'m pretty happy with how it came out. 1.5 hrs

This is awesome. Could to tell me how you got the colours to blend so well and what kind of brush settings you used? I do my painting in photoshop and am not really curious to how you did this. Also what the hell is SAI?

DUDE, Sai is this awesome painting program, ( just google Paint tool SAI) and look up the stuff on it, It is awesome sauce! Before I discovered it though, and I only used photoshop for painting, I used a basic round brush with the shape dynamics off, and transfer ( opacity/flow to pen pressure and opacity set to minimum of about 50& and worked from there. I used ALOT of color selection and still do in my pieces, but my best recommendation is use a reference photo and take samples from it to select your colors until you get the basic principals of lighting and such. AND don't worry if you feel lost, I still do to this day, but starting from the basics never hurts!

Awesome, maybe I'll check it out then. I actually have a bit of digital painting in my gallery, but it's not nearly as awesome. Would you reccomend using Sai over Photoshop for painting after trying it? In my digital painting, I use shape dynamics, transfer and usually an opacity between like 5%-50%. I think I'll try the way you do it a bit to see how that turns out.
The reason I paint the way I do is probably because I pretty much draw/shade instead. I think I'm rather odd with the way I do it. Thanks for the advice!
